Truck driver airlifted to hospital after highway crash

A man was airlifted to hospital after two trucks crashed on the Bruce Highway on the Sunshine Coast on the weekend.

The semi-trailer the man was driving ran into the back of another truck in southbound lanes of the highway on Saturday afternoon.

The LifeFlight helicopter landed on the highway near the scene.

The man, in his 50s, was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition with head and limb injuries.

Meanwhile, the Lifeflight chopper was busy again yesterday…called to a property at Widgee west of Gympie.

A woman in her 60s fell from a horse on Sunday morning and received lower body injuries.

She was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
