Former Bli Bli junior footballer and Matildas star Kyra Cooney-Cross has signed a deal to play for English Premier League team Arsenal.
21-year-old Cooney-Cross has been playing in Sweden.
She played junior soccer for Bli Bli while her father Jai was playing for the Sunshine Coast Fire.
She played 44 games for Melbourne Victory where she made her competitive debut at the age of just 15.
Cooney-Cross won the Australian league title in 2020/21 and 2021/22 with Victory.
She has played 30 games for Hammarby IF in the Swedish women’s league and they won the Swedish Cup in the 2022/23 season.
Kyra played her first game for Australia against Denmark in 2021 and has 39 caps for the Matildas.
The midfielder played a key role in Australia’s recent World Cup campaign and started in all seven of the Matildas’ matches.
