Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL
For people in parts of Southeast Coast and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL POSSIBLE OVER FAR SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND TODAY.
Weather Situation: A low pressure system off the Sunshine Coast is forecast to move slowly southwards through today, reaching the Gold Coast area by this evening. The system is very likely to remain close to the far southern Queensland coast, and has some potential to move just onshore south of Brisbane this afternoon and evening. The low is expected to move more rapidly southwards on Monday.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING may affect parts of the Southeast Coast districts through today. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 70 to 150 mm are possible. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 80 to 150 mm are possible, locally reaching up to 300 mm about the Gold Coast hinterland and southern border ranges.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is also possible during this period with six-hourly rainfall totals up to 200 mm. The highest risk areas are about the Gold Coast hinterland and southern border ranges. A separate Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued if very dangerous thunderstorms with intense rainfall are detected.
Heaviest falls are expected to continue to occur near and to the south of the low centre and shift southwards during the day, with a potential clearance out of the state by late this evening.
A Flood Watch and several flood warnings are current for South East Queensland and Wide Bay and Burnett areas.
Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Caboolture, Coolangatta and Ipswich.
Highest rainfall totals in the 24 hours to 9am Sunday include:
Upper Springbrook with 135mm
Bellthorpe with 131mm
Maleny with 114mm
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it’s flooded, forget it.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Sunday.
