Police are continuing to investigate after the discovery of a man’s body in the Maroochy River yesterday.
At 8.30 yesterday morning officers were called to the site under Talep Bridge in Maroochydore and they are now working to confirm the man’s identity.
While police have not received any missing persons reports for the area, they are asking the local community to check on family members.
The man is believed to be aged in his late 40s to late 50s and was wearing black shorts and a dark coloured t-shirt.
He has a solid build and was wearing elastic knee supports on both knees.
Police are trying to identity the man to establish the circumstances of his death.
The cause of death will not be known until post mortem examinations are conducted in coming days.
