A Noosa man accused of going on a drunken rampage in Indonesia has been released from jail.

It’s being reported 23 year-old Bohdi Risby-Jones paid 25-thousand dollars in compensation to the family of the fisherman he injured during the incident in April.

At the time of his arrest Risby-Jones said he only had one shot of vodka and was suffering from sunstroke when he was accused of attacking several people in the village near a surf resort in Aceh.

He reached agreement on the compensation deal and avoids the possibility up to five years in prison.

“I am very, very relieved and happy and I’m very grateful that I can go home,” Mr Risby-Jones said.

Flanked by Indonesian officials as he was being released they asked him what advice he would give to other travellers visiting the area.

“I guess just look what I did. I made a fool of myself and it was shown publicly worldwide.

“And respect the laws,” he said.
