Man seriously after alleged hit and run

A man has been charged after an alleged hit and run left another man in hospital at Caloundra West.

Around 3.30pm yesterday, a silver Nissan Pathfinder hit a man on Sugar Bag Road before leaving the scene.

The 64-year-old pedestrian was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious leg and chest injuries.

A 60-year-old man who is alleged to have been the driver of the Nissan was later arrested by police.

He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and driver fail to remain at incident and render assistance showing callous disregard.

He was bailed to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on 17 September.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact police.
