Burger captained the Silver Ferns in their gold medal win at the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

She was also named vice-captain with the Lightning, winning the Members’ Moment of the Year for her performance against the Firebirds in round 2 this season.

Burger is said she is “excited for what’s next, especially having Laura Langman in our coaching team”.

“Bringing in that level of experience and expertise, I think will really make an impact on how we play.

“Our defensive end is strong and will just keep getting better and better,” Burger said

26-year-old Mimi signed with the Lightning in 2024 and last season made 160 assists and 201 centre pass receives from 14 games.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to develop as both a player and a playing group, to bring more success to the Coast,” Mi Mi said.

The pair join Ava Black, Liz Watson and Donnell Wallam as players who will return next year.
