There’s been a case of Hepatitis A diagnosed in Gympie.
The Sunshine Coast Public Health Unit is contacting anyone who may have been exposed and is at high risk.
The person was active in the Gympie community while infectious.
It can take two to seven weeks before symptoms of HEP A start showing, including fever, gastro and abdominal discomfort.
Dark urine is usually the first specific sign, followed a day or two later by yellowing of the skin and eyes.
Anyone who has been in Gympie since May 12 is being asked to monitor their own and their family’s health, and to present to their G-P for testing if they experience symptoms.
There was also a case of Hep A confirmed in a Noosa Heads resident, who returned from overseas in April, and a special vaccination clinic was set up there for two days last week.
