Fire investigator called to Southside blaze

A house has gone up in flames at Southside in Gympie.

Crews were called to Excalibur Crescent around 4.30am on Monday, to reports of a structure well-involved in flames.

A QFES spokesperson says firefighters arrived to find a fire in the roof space of the ‘fairly new’ building.

It took a couple of hours to extinguish the blaze, with crews dampening down hotspots as of 5.45am, before the fire was extinguished at 6.30am.

QAS and QPS were also on scene, but no one was reportedly injured in the fire.

A fire investigator has been called to attend the scene later today.
