Fire contained after Wolvi residents told to prepare to leave

Fire crews have returned to monitor a bushfire near Gympie, that has burned through 150 acres of land.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued a Watch and Act warning for Wolvi residents at 3.53pm on Sunday afternoon, urging people in the area to Prepare to Leave.

It’s after a fast-moving fire tore through land between Wolvi Mountain Road and Sunshine Road, threatening multiple properties.

Around twenty fire crews battled the blaze.

The warning was downgraded at 6.05pm, once fire fighters managed to control the fire and homes were no longer under threat.

The blaze was burning within containment lines when they left the scene around 2am, before crews returned around 6am to monitor the flames.

A Stay Informed, Advice level warning remains in place as of 8am Monday, for surrounding residents to keep a close eye and ear out for any updates in case the situations changes.
