A motorcyclist has died and another is fighting for his life in hospital after they were hit by a car in Burpengary.
Three motorbike riders were heading south on Old Gympie Road at 5.25pm yesterday when police allege a car travelling in the opposite direction veered onto the wrong side of the road and hit them.
A 57-year-old man died at the scene, a 60-year-old man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A third rider was treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the sedan, a 31-year-old Eumundi man, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, driving under the influence of liquor or a drug, driving whilst suspended, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a drug utensil.
He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
