A woman has been winched aboard a rescue chopper from the deck of a cruise ship, after suffering a medical emergency.
The cruise ship changed course and diverted to an area north of Bundaberg following the woman’s cardiac-related incident around 7:30am Monday.
The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter flew to the vessel, sending down a critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic.
The chopper hovered nearby for around half an hour while the medical team treated the woman and prepared her for the airlift.
She was carefully loaded onto a stretcher and winched up to the helicopter.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was then flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
