Detectives from the Homicide Cold Case Investigation Team have obtained an arrest warrant for a 70-year-old man in relation to the 1997 murder of Meaghan Louise Rose on the Sunshine Coast.
25 year-old Ms Rose was found dead at the bottom of Point Cartwright cliffs 26 year’s ago.
Her death was originally ruled a suicide but new evidence led to a $500,000 reward being offered last month.
On June 25, detectives spoke to Keith Lees in Victoria, however, the former de-facto partner of Ms Rose disappeared the next day.
The following the day, his vehicle was located abandoned at Portland, with Victoria Police commencing a search and rescue operation.
Police said Mr Lees provided a false name when spoken to by police later that day in Port Fairy, Victoria.
Investigations have identified that Mr Lees was seen at a Waurn Ponds shopping centre on June 27 where he purchased new clothes.
He was further sighted leaving Shepparton train station on June 27 and was also seen wearing a distinctive black and white jacket.
CCTV footage and photos of him have been released showing him in different locations around Victoria. See below.
