$11.5 million in massive drug haul near Gympie

More than $11.5 million dollars of drugs and equipment have been seized at a rural property at Gunalda, north of Gympie.

442 people have been charged with 981 offences involving Drug and Serious Crime Group detectives in the week long police operation across Queensland.

The biggest bust was on September 12, when 2284 cannabis plants were found inside six large greenhouses at the Gunalda rural property.

The greenhouses are 80 metres in length and 10 metres wide.

Almost 7 kilograms of dried cannabis was also discovered, along with sophisticated hydroponic equipment and drug utensils.

Nobody was found at the property when it was searched and investigations are ongoing.

Police say the Gunalda operation is part of an organised crime syndicate.
