Winter Is Officially Over
Spring has officially arrived! 🌸
And after a pretty wild start to 2026, Australians are about to see the weather shift gears.
The latest outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology points to a warmer-than-average spring for much of Australia, with temperatures expected to be particularly high across the southern half of the country.
That includes NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, where the odds are strongly favouring above average temperatures.
Basically, get ready to swap the winter jacket for the sunnies.
What About The Rain?
This is where things get interesting.
The outlook favours below-average rainfall across parts of southern and eastern Australia, including areas along the east coast.
That doesn’t mean we’re going to have three months without a drop of rain. But overall, the chances are leaning towards a drier-than-usual spring.
For NSW and Queensland, that could mean plenty of sunny and warm days as we move further into September, October and November.
And Then There’s The Heat
The big thing to watch as spring progresses will be the heat.
With El Niño now established, Australia is entering a period where warmer and drier conditions are more likely.
That could mean an earlier taste of summer for parts of the country, particularly across the east and south.
And while we’re all very happy to see the sunshine return, warmer and drier conditions also mean fire weather becomes an increasingly important concern.

So, what can we expect?
More sunshine. More warmth. Less rain in many parts of the east.
And probably a few days where you’ll walk outside and think, “Yep… summer isn’t far away.”
After a long winter, we’re certainly not complaining about that.
