Three die in weekend crashes

Two people died in a crash involving a stolen vehicle at Chatsworth near Gympie on the weekend.

Police said a stolen black MG sedan was dangerously overtaking vehicles at speed on Gympie-Curra Road when it collided with the side of a black Toyota sedan.

It then hit a silver Holden sedan which caused both vehicles to flip and the Holden to burst into flames.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 20-year-old Kilkivan man, and the driver of the Holden, a 50-year-old man from The Palms west of Gympie, both died at the scene.

And a man died when his camper van crashed off a bridge at Kandanga around 6am yesterday.

Police believe the van crashed off Kandanga Creek Bridge and into a ditch on Amamoor Road.

The driver and sole occupant, a 19-year-old Ningi man, died at the scene.
