Police are calling on the driver who failed to stop at a serious crash in Buderim last week to contact them.

A 13 year-old Mooloolaba boy was riding his bike on Sugar Road just after 6pm on May 7 when he was struck by what’s believed to be a white dual cab ute with a white canopy and black wheels at the roundabout intersection with Wises Road.

The driver didn’t stop after the crash, and the ute continued briefly along Sugar Road before it’s believed it turned right onto Okinja Crescent.

The boy sustained serious leg injuries and has undergone four major surgeries in the Queensland Children’s Hospital to try and save the limb.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Investigators are appealing for the driver, or anyone with further information or knowledge of similar vehicles to contact police.

Forensic Crash Unit officers would also like to speak to the driver of a white Hyundai i20 with P plates, who stopped at the time and possibly witnessed the incident.
