A 33 year-old man has been remanded in custody after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint in Maroochydore.
It is alleged at about 10.30pm on Thursday, the man entered a business on Maud Street with a hand gun and threatened the female staff member who was working alone.
It is further alleged the man sexually assaulted the woman, in her 30s, at the shop before tying her up and forcing her into her vehicle.
The woman managed to call Triple Zero briefly before it was terminated which alerted police to her situation.
The man drove to Brisbane with the woman and police tracked the vehicle as it headed to a park on Syd Lingard Drive at Buderim, where officers arrested the man at 2am on Friday.
The woman was taken to hospital, where she received medical treatment and professional support.
She is now resting at home.
The man has been charged with three counts of rape, two counts each of sexual assault whilst armed and armed robbery, and one count each of kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, enter premises with intent, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.
