Police have charged a 32-year-old Sunshine Coast man over two car thefts where he allegedly used a knife.
Around 9pm on Saturday July 12, it is alleged the Palmwoods man approached another man with a knife outside a business on Alice Street in Maryborough and demanded keys to a Toyota Hilux before stealing the vehicle.
Around two hours later, the man allegedly entered a home on Maroochy Circuit in Yandina, threatened the residents with a knife, and demanded keys to a Volkswagen Golf at the property.
He allegedly stole the car and drove south on the Bruce Highway.
The police helicopter tracked the vehicle allegedly driving dangerously on the Bruce Highway towards Caboolture, through Burpengary and Deception Bay.
He was arrested at a Palmwoods property around 11.30pm the next day.
The stolen Toyota was located at the Yandina address and the stolen Volkswagen was found at the Palmwoods property.
He has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 8.
