Police have charged two men over an alleged armed robbery at Mount Coolum.
It is alleged around 6.20pm yesterday, a 55-year-old man was approached by a 26 year-old Mount Coolum man armed with a knife at a shopping centre on David Low Way.
The man allegedly demanded the victim’s vehicle keys and drove away in his red Honda HR-V.
Police tracked the vehicle, with assistance from POLAIR, south from the Sunshine Coast into Brisbane and towards Ipswich.
Around 8.32pm, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device in Ebbw Vale, before the vehicle continued into Bundamba.
The vehicle was later abandoned on Naomi Street, where the driver, a 26-year-old man, allegedly fled on foot before he was arrested a short distance away.
A 29-year-old Yarrabilba man, who was allegedly in the vehicle, was also arrested on Naomi Street.
The 26-year-old Mount Coolum man was charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
