Police are urging residents in Maroochydore apartment buildings to lock up their valuables, following recent thefts targeting basement car parks.

Around 9.04pm on May 6, it is alleged at least two men manually opened a garage door to an underground parking space on Sixth Avenue and searched through multiple vehicles.

A 29-year-old Bli Bli man has been arrested and charged with two counts of enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He has been remanded in custody to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 26.

At approximately 10pm on May 3, police received reports of a break in at an apartment complex on Duporth Avenue.

Early enquiries indicate three masked suspects managed to disengage the underground garage door’s automatic opening mechanism and stole an electric bike.
