Despite recent rumors suggesting that every episode of Stranger Things Season 5 would be over 90 minutes long, it appears those claims were exaggerated.

Series co-creator Ross Duffer recently shared the runtimes for the first four episodes of the show’s final season on Instagram. The episode lengths are as follows:

  • Episode 1 (“The Crawl”): 68 minutes
  • Episode 2 (Title TBA): 54 minutes
  • Episode 3 (“The Turnbow Trap”): 66 minutes
  • Episode 4 (“Sorcerer”): 83 minutes

For comparison, the fourth season featured episodes that were mostly over 70 minutes, with the final three episodes all being feature-length. The Season 4 finale had a massive runtime of 142 minutes.

Netflix is releasing Stranger Things Season 5 in three parts. The first four episodes will premiere on November 26th, followed by the next three episodes at Christmas. The series finale, titled “The Rightside Up,” will air on New Year’s Eve. It’s likely these first four episodes will be the shortest of the final season.

Shawn Levy and Frank Darabont are among the directors for the final season, which is expected to be one of Netflix’s biggest releases of the year, well… if it wasn’t for Kpop Demon Hunters that is.
