Police have charged a 42-year-old man following the death of a young child just north of Gympie on the weekend.
Emergency services were called to Chatsworth Park rest area off Gympie-Curra Road around 10.40am on Saturday following reports a 7-month-old baby boy was located unresponsive in a lake.
The infant was taken to hospital for treatment, however he died that night.

The man, who is known to the child, was arrested in Bundamba yesterday and he has been charged with manslaughter (domestic violence).
He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
