Good news for all Australians on minimum wage, they will receive a 3.5% boost from 1 July 2025. The Fair Work Commission has made the call, and that means a little extra in the pay packet for many.

What’s the Deal?
The National Minimum Wage is jumping to $948 a week, or $24.95 an hour. That’s for folks not covered by an award or enterprise agreement. Most workers are on awards, and those minimum rates are going up by 3.5% as well.
When Does It Kick In?
The new rates will start after 1 July. So if your work week starts on a Wednesday, the new pay will apply from Wednesday, 2 July. Easy as.

What Should You Do Now?
No need to panic. Fair Work is updating their pay tools and guides, so you’ll be able to check your exact rates closer to the date. In the meantime, you can:
- Find your award using the Pay and Conditions Tool
- Bookmark their site or sign up for email updates
- Follow them on socials if that’s more your style
A Few Extra Bits
In addition to the pay rise, the super guarantee will increase to 12% from 1 July. And if you work under the Pharmacy Award, there are extra pay changes from 30 June and 1 July.
So, whether you’re saving for a holiday or just trying to cover the rising cost of coffee, a bit more cash each week certainly doesn’t hurt.
