Police assaulted during NSW COVID check
A man and a woman have been charged after police in NSW were allegedly assaulted while conducting a COVID-19 compliance check.
Officers attended a western Sydney home around midnight on Thursday to carry out the check on a 39-year-old man.
Police say the man verbally abused and threatened the officers.
More police showed up and the man was arrested after resisting five officers, a NSW Police statement said on Thursday.
A 20-year-old woman known to the man also allegedly assaulted a male senior constable and hindered police during the incident.
Both have been charged and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.
