Rush Festival 2018 kicks off on Thursday night with aerial performances, live music by Dan Duggan and outdoor market and food stalls.

Unfortunately, due to predicted heavy rain fall, Rush Festival will be cancelling some activities tobe held on Saturday 13 October during Rush Carnivale.

The following outdoor activities will be cancelled:
- Nashy’s 500 Billy Cart Challenge
- Licensed 18+ bar area (Civic Centre carpark)
- Outdoor food, markets and ride vendors

Rush Festival hopes to re-schedule some of these events over the coming six months.

Please note at this stage the Gold Rush Parade is still scheduled to go ahead, subject to weather conditions. Parade route and info can be found here:

The Rush Main Stage, Live and Local Session 2 (featuring Wes Carr), workshops and the Immersive Art Projection Experience will remain open inside the Civic Centre at scheduled times.

Where possible, roaming entertainment and performances will be relocated indoors.

Rush Festival is disappointed with this outcome, but hopes to see the community enjoying the many family friendly and free activities to come over the next week until 21 October.

The official opening will be held in conjunction with the annual Rush Art Competition Awards ceremony, in and around the Gympie Regional Gallery Grounds (39 Nash Street, Gympie) from 6.00pm, Thursday 11 October.

Over 400 entrants come together annually to submit art pieces across 12 categories, including mixed media and digital art. Finalists, their families and spectators are all invited to attend.

Artisan markets and food trucks will fill the Gallery grounds, as well as roaming entertainment by five star internationally renowned physical comedian Daniel Oldaker.

Local folk music darlings The Dennis Sisters will support Dan Duggan on the outdoor stage.

Rush Festival, to be held between 11-21 October, is a 10-day arts and culture experience held in over 20 venues in the Gympie region.
