JUST IN | Stabbing Frenzy Spills Out Onto Street In Tewantin

UPDATE | Police have just released a statement about a stabbing in Tewantin.

 

A man has been charged following an incident overnight where a number of people were allegedly assaulted with a baseball bat and knife.

 

It will be alleged around 7.30pm a man attended an address on Gympie Street and threatened the occupants of the home who were known to him.

 

The man allegedly punched a 43-year-old woman in the stomach before producing a baseball bat and striking a 50-year-old man in the head.

 

It is further alleged the man then produced a bladed weapon and slashed the 50-year-old man across the face before stabbing a 27-year-old man in the arm and shoulder.

 

The man fled the scene however was located and taken into custody by police.

 

The 27-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 50-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

 

A 29-year-old Tewantin man has been charged with wounding, common assault, going armed so as to cause fear and stealing and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

 

Investigations are continuing.

 

EARLIER | Two men have been stabbed and a woman punched after a brawl spilled out onto the streets in Tewantin overnight.

Police say some residents on Gympie Street walked outside when they heard noises at around 7:30PM on Monday night.

 

They found the men with stab wounds and an injured woman.

29 year old Tewantin man will face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday.  He has been charged with going armed to casuse fear, common assault, wounding and unrelated charge of stealing.
