Calls for mandatory quad bike safety laws

Roll-over protection and a safety rating system are being considered as mandatory measures to stop people being killed while using quad bikes.
 
There have been 114 deaths from quad-bikes since 2011.
 
ACCC Commissioner Mick Keogh says the consumer watchdog is seeking feedback on the best ways to improve safety on the unregulated vehicle.
 
"Because they're mainly used off-road and for a variety of purposes, they don't fall within the Motor Vehicle Safety Standard regime."
 
A woman died in late December on the Sunshine Coast following a quad bike crash.
