UPDATE | Power Restored to Hundreds On The Sunshine Coast

UPDATE | Power has been restored to 629 homes and businesses on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday afternoon.

Trains between Beerwah and Caboolture will be suspended for the rest of the day due to damage sustained to “overhead line equipment” from nearby fires.

The Bureau of Meteorology has also issued a Severe Fire Danger warning for south east Queensland.

EARLIER | More than two-thousand homes in South East Queensland are without power on Thursday afternoon, as strong winds take out powerlines.

Energex's Holly Lister said the strong winds had caused debris to damage power lines, with debris and vegetation having to be removed.

629 Sunshine Coast homes and businesses are currently without power.

Suburbs affected include Beerwah, Flaxton, the Glasshouse Mountains, Mapleton, Nambour, Rosemount where 521 are in the dark.
