Thousands are without power on the Sunshine Coast after reports a paraglider has crashed into power lines at Sunrise Beach.

Paramedics are on the scene now assessing the mans condition but it is believed he is stable.

Emergency crews say the man in his 40's crashed into the lines before falling from them.

The man was able to free himself from the lines but a QFES spokesperson says a "kite" is still tangled in the lines.

More than 2220 homes are without power around Noosa Heads, Sunrise Beach and Sunshine Beach, as Energex works to untangle the material.
