Early morning blaze tears through Eumundi coffee shop

Flames have torn through a Eumundi coffee shop in the early hours of this morning.

The fire broke out in the building on Memorial Drive around 4.25am.

Len Bevitt from the Hideaway Bakery across the road spotted the blaze.

"I went outside to ring my wife to get her up to come to work this morning and there were flames coming out of the Humdrum coffee shop through the roof," he says.

Mr Bevitt dialled Triple Zero and says crews responded quickly..

"They've got it under control, it's all out but the damage looks pretty significant to the building."

A QFES spokesperson says four fire crews attended the scene, arriving to find the building fully involved in flames.

They searched the structure for any people before extinguishing the fire around 5.15am.

Mr Bevitt says the damage looks pretty substantial.

"The building owner is one of our customers and he's only maybe 18 months ago had the whole building rebuilt, a new fit-out in it and everything, so it's a bit of a shame."

Paramedics were on standby but say no patients required treatment or transport to hospital.
