Sunshine Coast woman charged over crash that killed 71yo man
A Sunshine Coast woman has been charged over a crash that killed a 71-year-old Kenilworth man.
Police allege the woman had a blood-alcohol reading of 0.276 per cent at the time of the crash - more than five times the legal limit.
The woman has been accused of driving her four-wheel-drive on Landsborough Maleny Road on May 27 when she collided with a ute that was waiting at a stop sign on Maleny Montville Road around noon.
The driver of the ute was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
He died as a result of his injuries on May 31.
After a Forensic Crash investigation, the woman was issued with a notice to appear on charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, and driving under the influence of liquor.
She is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on August 30.
