Rice Boi owner Tony Kelly says his popular restaurant at Mooloolaba Wharf is closed and undergoing a deep clean after a Covid-19 positive case visited the establishment.

A Queensland woman studying in Victoria flew to the Sunshine Coast on July 13.

She was infectious in the community from July 15 to July 17 and visited Rice Boi on Thursday, July 15 from 6.45pm to 8pm.

In a Facebook video, Mr Kelly reassured his customers he was working with Queensland Health, and safety was the highest priority.

“We are going through the motions right now and working very closely with Queensland Health to figure out the next course of action,” he says.

“Everybody who visited the venue on that night and checked in will be contacted by Queensland Health.

“We’re closed today to deep clean the old girl.

“We’ll be in full swing tomorrow.

“Thanks for the support and please stay safe.”
