Six fire crews have helped extinguish the flames, after a bushfire broke out at Beerwah.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services was called to the scene around 11am yesterday, with the fire travelling along Old Gympie Road near Lindeman Road.

A 'Stay Informed' alert was issued, with nearby residents told to keep up to date with information, and decide what actions to take if the situation changed.

They were also warned roads and properties in the area would be affected by smoke, which could reduce visibility and air quality.

However, the alert was lifted after crews managed to get the fire under control within a couple of hours.

All fire fighters had left the scene by 1pm.
