Lab left with 60 stitches after attack at Currimundi beach

A black labrador has been seriously injured in a dog attack at Currimundi.

The pooch was reportedly set upon by two other dogs at the off-leash beach area, near Robe Street, around 6pm on April 21.

The lab's injuries required about 60 stitches.

Sunshine Coast Council officers are investigating the incident, calling for any witnesses or anyone who helped separate the dogs to come forward.

"Being involved in a dog attack can be a frightening experience, both for the dog, its owner and witnesses," a spokesperson says.

"In this instance Council understands a male person assisted and separated the dogs.

"Council would like to speak with the male person who provided assistance or any other witnesses to the attack to get more details about the event."
