Planned burn at Currimundi an impressive site
Plumes of smoke have been witnessed billowing over the southern Sunshine Coast during yesterday's hazard reduction burns.
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnership conducted a planned burn at Currimundi Lake Conservation Park on Thursday afternoon, as part of the annual conservation management program for parks and forests.
A spokesperson says the aim of this burn was to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas.
"This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires,and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration," they said in a statement.
