Smoke could obscure the view at Noosa Heads
Rangers are taking advantage of the cooler weather, conducting hazard reduction burns at Noosa National Park and Tewantin National Parks over the coming weeks.
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service's planned burns are set to start today.
Locations include Marcus Beach, Peregian Beach and Noosa Heads, as well as McKinnon Drive, Noosa Banks and Ringtail Creek.
Drivers are being urged to take care if there is smoke over the road in the surrounding areas.
A QPWS spokesperson says smoke can decrease visibility on the roads so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions.
"The planned burns are part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests."
"The aim is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas, to help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration."
