‘Perfect son’ loses fight for life after crash near Gympie
A teenager has died in hospital following a crash near Gympie on Sunday night.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations suggest the Toyota Corolla sedan veered off Vines Road, at Wolvi, at around 8pm.
The car then collided with a tree.
The 18-year-old driver, Rykah Burr from Greens Creek, had been in a coma since the incident; however, he tragically died at around 7pm last night.
His mum took to social media to confirm her son had tragically passed away.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart and complete devastation beyond words that we want to let everyone know who loves and has supported Rykah that my perfect son, the most amazing brother, nephew, cousin and friend anyone could ever have wished for has lost his fight for life and has sadly passed away,” the post says.
“We know that this will affect so many people as he was loved and respected by everyone from all walks of life.”
Two passengers in the car, an 18-year-old man and 15-year-old girl, are recovering from serious injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
