Landslip at Inskip Point shortly after cars board barge
A chunk of beach has washed away at Inskip Point.
Beachgoers watched as a 40 metre section of sand crumbled into the ocean yesterday afternoon, near where the Fraser Island barge comes in.
People and vehicles had been lined up at that very spot just moments before the near-shore landslip.
Thankfully they had all boarded the barge before the sand started crumbling away.
A Department of Environment and Science spokesperson says near shore landslips are a common occurrence in the area, and can be a spectacular sight, but are short lived and the area replenishes quickly.
