Three lives lost on local roads over Easter long weekend

Three people have died in fatal crashes across the Sunshine Coast region over the Easter long weekend.

A woman in her 70s was killed in a two-vehicle incident near Woodford yesterday.

Her car collided head-on with another vehicle on Kilcoy Beerwah Road at Cedarton around 11:30am.

The man and woman in the other car, aged 63 and 54, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is looking into the cause of the crash.

Meantime, detectives are also investigating a single car crash at Pacific Paradise on Easter Sunday, which has claimed the lives of a couple in their 60s.

Their car crashed into a tree on David Low Way around 7am.

The driver, a 69-year-old man, and his 68-year-old female passenger, were trapped in the vehicle for some time before being freed and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where they both later passed away.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle, a 2016 white Nissan Qashqai SUV, driving in the area prior to the crash.

Anyone with relevant dashcam footage is also urged to come forward.
