Popular Sunshine Coast Dawn Service cancelled over COVID concerns
One of the Sunshine Coast's most popular ANZAC Day Dawn Services has been cancelled, over COVID-19 public health concerns.
Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club has announced, with regret, that it has made the decision to cancel this year's beach Dawn Service.
It says the call was made before Monday's snap lockdown announcement by the State Government.
Traditionally, around 10,000 people attend the service and the club says it has not taken the decision lightly.
It says the club's main concern is safety for the public, veterans and especially those that are particularly vulnerable in these times.
As an alternative, Mooloolaba Surf Lifesaving Club veterans and ex-servicemen and women members will be invited to a small, invite-only Dawn Service inside The Surf Club.
