Charges laid after pedestrian killed in alleged hit and run
Police have laid charges following a fatal traffic incident on the Sunshine Coast this morning, which has claimed the life of a 21-year-old Minyama man.
Despite efforts to revive a pedestrian, he died shortly after being found unconscious on the side of Maroochy Boulevarde in Maroochydore around 1.30am.
A 25-year-old Mooloolaba man later attended the Maroochydore Police Station in relation to incident.
He has since been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and leaving the scene of an incident without obtaining help.
The accused has been given police bail to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on January 22.
His sedan has been seized for forensic examination.
Investigators are still calling for any witnesses, or drivers who may have dashcam footage of the incident, or who were travelling on Maroochy Boulevard in either direction around the time of this incident, to come forward.
