Teenagers assaulted in random attack at Ocean St
A man is due in court today, accused of assaulting three teenagers in a random attack at the Ocean Street nightlife precinct in Maroochydore.
Police say the accused left a venue just before midnight on Wednesday, and was under the influence when he went up to a young group at a nearby shopping centre carpark.
The 36-year-old, of Nambour, allegedly punched a 19-year-old man, causing him to fall to the ground.
Detectives say he then pushed an 18-year-old to the floor, before hitting another 18-year-old and knocking him unconcious. That teenager is in hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries.
The man doesn't know the teenagers.
He is facing a string of charges, including three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm in a public place, while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and obstruct police.
Police are looking into whether there were other assaults.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
