Second man charged over body found in Gympie


A second man has been charged with murder, following the alleged homicide of a 43-year-old Crestmead man at Maryborough earlier this month.

His body was found down an embankment at Ross Creek in the Gympie region on November 1, following an alleged fight at a Maryborough address the previous evening.

A 36-year-old man has previously been charged with the man's murder, while at 2.45pm on Sunday, Mackay police located a 38-year-old Island Plantation man at the Mackay Harbour.

He allegedly attempted to flee from officers but was arrested and taken into custody.

The 38-year-old man was transported to Mackay Watchhouse and has since been charged with one count each of murder, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and wilful damage.

He was expected to appear at Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.
