Additional charge laid over Cootharaba stabbing
A 60-year-old man is due back in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today, charged with an additional offence over an alleged domestic disturbance that landed two people in hospital.
Police allege that just after 12am on September 17, an argument occurred between a 41-year-old man and a 60-year-old man, who were known to each other.
The 60-year-old man is accused of arming himself with a knife and assaulting the 41-year-old man, causing a significant wound to his stomach.
The 41-year-oldmanaged to leave the scene in a vehicle before being located by emergency services a short distance away and transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with critical injuries.
His current condition is stable.
The 60-year-old man then allegedly turned on a 27-year-old woman known to him, and struck her over the head with a glass object.
The woman was transported to hospital with serious facial injuries.
A 60-year-old Cootharaba man was arrested on Monday night and charged with acts intended to maim.
He faced court on Tuesday, before a charge of grievous bodily harm was later added.
He was due to reappear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 23.
