No kerbside collection for Noosa Shire
No massive spring clean for Noosa residents this year, unless you are willing to take the trash to the tip yourself.
Kerbside bulk rubbish collection has been scrapped in the region, to minimise the impact on ratepayers in the upcoming budget.
Mayor Clare Stewart said the decision comes after Council’s bottom line took a $1.4 million hit in the wake of COVID-19.
"Saving where we can and spending only where we must will be the key focus of our upcoming budget, to be announced on July 10," said Mayor Stewart.
"Our aim is to get back to basics keeping our roads and other grassroots infrastructure and services in top shape, while minimising the financial cost of COVID-19 on you, the residents and ratepayers.
"Deferring the kerbside rubbish collection in the short term will free up about $250,000 for many of these vital projects, particularly in the hinterland".
Residents can have a say on the kerbside collection, as part of community consultation on future budget spending.
