Gympie claims cheapest diesel title
Gympie motorists have reason to celebrate, with the town named as the cheapest regional Queensland centre, to fill up with diesel last month.
According to RACQ’s Monthly Fuel Price Report, Gympie drivers paid on average 119 cents per litre (cpl) during April, while Noosa came a close second at 119.8cpl.
RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith said record low oil prices in April due to COVID-19 and a price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia, resulted in lower prices at the bowser.
“Gympie not only had the cheapest diesel but drivers also enjoyed the lowest indicative retail margins in Queensland. So, we’re pleased to see savings being passed on to drivers in the region,” Ms Smith said.
She said drivers of unleaded vehicles weren't so lucky.
"The average was up at around $1.08 which was far from being the cheapest in the state".
