Police Release Image Of Teen After Police Car Rammed

UPDATE | A man has been arrested after a police vehicle was rammed on the weekend.

At around 8.20PM on Saturday, officers from the Criminal Investigation Branch spotted the grey Mazda sedan that had been reported stolen from Yandina travelling through Nambour CBD.

Police followed the vehicle until it entered the driveway of a residence on National Park Road.

It will be alleged, the stolen car was then reversed twice into the stationary police vehicle, forcing officers and a passenger who escaped from the Mazda to get out of the way.

The force of the collision caused the police vehicle to travel back out on the road prior to coming to a stop in the front yard of another residence.

The stolen car was then allegedly driven again at police before speeding from the scene and crashing into a street sign on Sapphire Street.

The driver got out and ran off.

Both officers and the passenger sustained minor injuries. The 27-year-old male passenger is not linked to the stolen car or the offence.

An 18-year-old Maroochydore man has been charged with, one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, drive without due car and attention, fraud, stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession tainted property, receiving tainted property, evade police, fail to stop for prescribed purpose, fail to remain at scene of traffic crash, drive unregistered motor vehicle, drive uninsured motor vehicle and fail to wear helmet. He was further charged with two counts of unlicensed driving.

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
