Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath is the keynote speaker at a free education seminar on proposed changes to strata industry law in Queensland hosted on the Sunshine Coast by Smart Strata and foundation partners Archers the Strata Professionals.
Archers the Strata Professionals Partner Grant Mifsud said Ms D’Ath will be the special guest at the information session held on Saturday, October 12, at Caloundra Events Centre from 9.30am-11.30am.

Strata law experts Jason Carlson of Grace Lawyers and James Nickless, the Legal Counsel for MaxSoft Group, will also explain law changes expected to be introduced to state parliament in 2020.
Mr Mifsud said the proposed legislative changes are likely to deal with modernisation of procedural matters in strata communities and provisions addressing areas of common dispute such as pets, smoke free buildings, towing of vehicles, fines for by-law breaches, insurance and building defect management.
“We’re delighted that the Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath is coming to address our seminar at Caloundra,” he said.
“If you’re wondering about what issues are affecting the strata industry in your region, this is an opportunity to come along to these informative education sessions.
“An open forum will follow encouraging audience interaction to discuss transition provisions and how these changes will ultimately affect you. There will also be local suppliers on hand during the networking sessions to keep you up to date with the latest product and service innovations.”
Mr Mifsud said body corporate by-laws and legislation can be complex, but seminars such as these provide the opportunity to make many issues simpler.
“Through these seminars we try to focus on providing quality education to the strata community on the key issues,” he said.
