A heritage site in Eumundi is set to get a new string of shops.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council has confirmed the old "Highway Motors" site, will be transformed into a shopping precinct.
A development application was approved by Council at Nambour last week.
The site which includes two houses and the butter factory will have shops, a grocer, restaurant, professional services and public piazza space added.
Stage 1 will be limited to 1033sqm in floor space and include 61 car parks.
Construction can begin on Stage 1 as soon as operational work (construction) permits are applied for and approved.
Cr Greg Rogerson told the ABC he supports the project, and the feedback suggests the community does too.
"We’re talking about one of the greenest and most conservative towns," he said.
"(It's) an old town that really really cherishes their heritage. To only have 8 submissions against this application is absolutely mind-boggling."
Cr Rogerson also told the ABC the development is "moderate and responsible".
"It's all good for Eumundi and it should be a great business for the township of Eumundi."
